About Monica

|
My name is Monica Gray-Huff and I was born in Wisner, La. I graduated from high school in Dawson, Ga. in 1971. In 1972 I went to work at The Franklin Sun in Winnsboro and started shooting pictures for the newspaper in 1979. My first camera was a Minolta XGM film camera. I used Minolta products faithfully until December 2005, when I purchased a Nikon D70s. I love digital photography it's so much easier and quicker (it was hard to wait sometimes until you got the film processed back in the old days). I recommend digital to everyone. And yes, I did my time in the black & white
darkroom, too. My very favorite thing to shoot is "Kid Kandids" and believe it or not, sports! I love the challenge of getting "the perfect shot." It's not happened yet, so I'm still trying! Since 1979 I have shot photos of everything from Gov. Foster's wife, sitting in the median of Hwy. 15 surrounded by yellow flowers, to local football hero, Booger McFarland. I've also had my photo taken with a few of the greats - like Randy Owen of Alabama. I also handle photography at the Deep South Rodeo for The Sun that comes to Winnsboro every year and I have taken photos at the Princess Theatre since it opened.
I would shoot pictures even if it were not my job. According to Rod Stewart's song "Every Picture Tells A Story" … Yea, Don't It!
